I'm so glad you've found your way here.
I'm Mai, a mum of two, a former journalist, a PhD researcher, a Thermomix Advisor since 2020, and the person behind Thy Cook.
I love cooking, but I also know what it's like to reach the end of a long day and feel that cooking is the very last thing I want to do. And I think that's where my journey with Thermomix really began.
I never wanted to make fancy meals every day, but only to make everyday cooking a little easier, more manageable and, hopefully, more enjoyable.
When you're juggling children, work, family and everything else life throws at you, sometimes simply getting a homemade meal on the table feels like an achievement.
And that's perfectly fine.
How Thy Cook Began
I became a Thermomix Advisor in 2020, right in the middle of writing my PhD thesis. And believe it or not, I never actually planned to become an advisor in the long run.
I initially signed up for one reason: to get my TM6 for free through a cash rebate programme.
That was the plan. Complete the programme, earn enough rebates to cover the cost of my Thermomix, and call it a day.
But something interesting happened during those three months.
I started noticing that while many people were excited about owning a Thermomix, not everyone felt confident using it. Some were afraid of pressing the wrong buttons. Others found the different cooking modes confusing. And quite a few had machines sitting on their kitchen counters, waiting to be used more often.
And honestly, I could understand why.
Learning something new takes time, especially when you're already juggling work, children and everything else life throws at you.
So I started sharing what I knew.
Little cooking tricks, explanations of different functions, simple recipes, troubleshooting tips and all the things I wished someone had explained to me when I first started.
I also began doing my own research, putting together information I thought would be useful to beginners. Eventually, I created my very first TM6 cheatsheet and shared it for free.
I didn't think much of it at the time. I just wanted to make things a little easier for people who were trying to figure out their machines.
But the response was encouraging.
What began as helping my own customers gradually extended to my growing community of Instagram followers. More questions came in, more ideas followed, and I found myself spending more time creating resources, explaining things and helping people become more confident in their kitchens.
Somewhere along the way, I realised that I genuinely enjoyed this side of the business.
Perhaps it was the journalist in me who loved researching and explaining things. Or perhaps it was simply the satisfaction of knowing that something I shared had helped someone cook a meal they previously thought was too difficult.
Whatever it was, I kept going.

And just like that, the three-month plan turned into six years. 😂
What started as a little side project while I was working on my PhD gradually became Thy Cook as you know it today, a space for sharing recipes, creating illustrated guidebooks, teaching, learning and helping people make the most of their Thermomix.
And the funny thing is, I only signed up because I wanted a free TM6.
Six years later, I'm still here.
Why I Started Writing Guidebooks
Before becoming a Thermomix Advisor, I worked as a journalist. I've always loved writing, researching, explaining things and turning complicated information into something people can actually understand.
I also happen to be someone who learns better when information is presented visually.
So when I noticed that customers often struggled with the same questions, I thought, why not put everything together in a book?
Something they could keep in their kitchen, refer to whenever they needed help, and understand without having to scroll through endless videos or messages.
That was how my illustrated Thermomix guidebooks came about.
I write, research and design these resources myself, with one goal in mind: to make learning your Thermomix less intimidating.
Because I genuinely believe that the more you understand your machine, the more confident you become in using it.
And confidence makes all the difference.

What You'll Find Here
Thy Cook is my little corner of the internet where I bring all of those things together.
You'll find everyday family recipes, practical kitchen tips, illustrated guidebooks, Thermomix tutorials and honest thoughts about making cooking work around real life.
Some days, that means baking bread from scratch. Other days, it means making a quick dinner with whatever I can find in the fridge.
And sometimes, it's simply about having a freezer full of prepared ingredients so that cooking doesn't feel quite so overwhelming.
I'm not here to convince you that every meal needs to be homemade, beautifully presented or cooked from scratch. I'm here to show you that with a little knowledge, preparation and confidence, cooking can become something that fits into your life rather than takes over it.
A Little Note Before You Go
If there's one thing I've learned over the years, it's that owning a Thermomix and knowing how to use it are two very different things.
A Thermomix you use every day is very different from a Thermomix you simply own.
And that's really what Thy Cook is about. Helping you make the most of what you have, learn something new along the way and make family meals happen, one recipe at a time.
Whether you're here to learn about Thermomix, find something delicious to cook, explore my guidebooks or simply pick up a useful kitchen tip, I hope you'll find something that helps.
Thank you for being here and for supporting the little things I create.
Happy cooking!
Mai ❤️
