Should You Upgrade from TM6 to TM7? Here's What I Think.

Hello, and welcome to my very first official Thy Cook website! And guess what? You're reading my very first blog post here too! :)

I'm actually quite ecstatic to have a little space where I can write again. It's been a while since I've had the chance to sit down and properly put my thoughts into words, so please bear with me as I find my writing rhythm again!

Now, what better way to kick things off than by answering one of the questions I've been getting quite a lot lately?

I'm guessing quite a few of you have landed here because you already own a Thermomix TM6 and have been wondering whether it's time to upgrade to the new TM7.

And I completely understand. When a new model comes along, it's tempting to find out what's different, what's better, and whether you're missing out on something.

One question I've been getting quite a lot lately is: "Mai, should I trade in my TM6 or just get another Thermomix?"

Well, it really depends.

Before you make any decisions, here are a few things I'd encourage you to consider.

1. Is your TM6 still serving you well?

Let's start here.

If your TM6 is working perfectly, you're using it regularly, and upgrading would stretch your budget, then there's absolutely no reason to rush.

The TM6 is still an excellent machine. It can knead your dough, steam your meals, prepare your sambal, cook your soups, and do so many of the things you bought it for in the first place.

And if it's already helping you make family meals happen, that's what matters.

You don't need the newest Thermomix to be a confident home cook.

I always tell my customers that a Thermomix you use every day is very different from a Thermomix you simply own.

So if you're happy with your TM6, keep cooking with it!

2. When does trading in your TM6 make sense?

Now, if you've been considering an upgrade for some time, the Trade-Up Programme might be worth looking into.

I'd particularly encourage you to consider it if:

  • Your TM6 is already out of warranty or approaching the end of its warranty.

  • You cook almost every day and rely heavily on your Thermomix.

  • You're interested in the new TM7 features and can see yourself using them regularly.

  • You were already planning to upgrade and the trade-in rebate makes financial sense.

Of course, being out of warranty doesn't automatically mean you need a new machine. A well-maintained TM6 can still have plenty of life left in it.

But if upgrading has been on your mind, a trade-in offer could make the decision a little easier.

Just make sure you understand the programme's terms, rebate amount, and any conditions before committing.

3. What if you want to keep your TM6 and get a TM7 too?

Now, this is where things get interesting!

A number of my customers have decided to keep their TM6 and add a TM7 to their kitchen instead of trading in.

And I can see why.

If you cook frequently, bake regularly, or prepare several dishes at once, having two Thermomix machines can make a real difference.

Imagine making your sambal in one machine while preparing soup in the other. Or kneading bread dough while your other Thermomix handles dinner.

And then there's the second mixing bowl.

If you've ever had to wash your bowl halfway through preparing a meal because you needed it for something else, you'll understand why so many Thermomix users love having an extra one.

With two bowls, you can:

  • Prepare dough in one and savoury dishes in another.

  • Cook back-to-back without washing the same bowl between every step.

  • Keep dessert preparations separate from your main meals.

  • Spend less time waiting for your bowl to be available.

Of course, an extra bowl isn't a necessity for everyone. And having two machines only makes sense if you have the budget, counter space, and enough cooking to justify them.

But for busy families, home bakers, and those who cook in larger quantities, the flexibility can be wonderful.

4. So, should you trade in or keep both?

Here's how I'd look at it.

Keep your TM6 if: It's still working well, you're happy with what it does, and upgrading isn't a priority right now.

Consider trading in if: You're ready for the TM7, you don't need two machines, and the trade-in rebate offers good value.

Consider keeping both if: You cook frequently, regularly prepare multiple dishes, and can comfortably afford the additional machine.

And remember, promotions change. A good offer is only a good deal if it suits your needs and budget.

My Final Thoughts

I've been a Thermomix Advisor since 2020, and if there's one thing I've learnt from helping customers over the years, it's that everyone uses their Thermomix differently.

Some use it every single day. Some mostly bake. Some rely on it for family dinners, while others bring it out whenever they have guests coming over.

And that's perfectly fine.

I don't believe everyone needs to upgrade just because there's a newer model.

What matters more is whether your Thermomix is making life in the kitchen easier.

Because at the end of the day, the best Thermomix isn't necessarily the newest one. It's the one that works for you and actually gets used.

If you're still unsure whether to keep your TM6, trade it in, or upgrade to the TM7, feel free to get in touch. I'm always happy to walk you through the options.

Happy cooking!

Mai
